Pacific’O “Ingredients” Movie Night

Save the date!
Pacific’O Restaurant is presenting a movie night featuring the independently produced film “Ingredients” on Saturday, November 20.
Director Robert Bates will be on hand to schmooze and answer any questions. This is also a chance to help with the funding of their next production, as a portion of the proceeds will go to the making of “Ingredients Hawai’i“.
Food and drinks begin at 6:00 p.m. and the movie starts at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $50 per person.
Come for a fun night on the beach under the stars with good food, drinks and a great flick about the food crisis in America.

Committees Drive Our Organization

Slow Food Maui and it’s prospective members got the “royal treatment” last evening as Flatbread in Paia hosted our group around the large community table which brought together a pool of wonderfully talented individuals that will help populate our various committees. The group dined on salads, a variety of brick oven pizzas , courtesy of Jenna of Flatbread, and decadent desserts of gelato and cupcakes, courtesy of Melissa of Penguini in Paia.
A point echoed throughout the meeting was that the committees will be the driving force behind the organization and will lead our group out into the Maui community.

Cookbook Exchange & Bake Sale – Dec. 4th , 9AM – 2PM at the Maui Botanical Gardens

A while back, a viral video from the Humane Society exposed the appalling practices of IHOP’s egg supplier and it made you want to give up eggs forever, or at least give up IHOP.
The truth is IHOP was unfairly targetted. True, you probably don’t want to go to a restaurant where the eggs are products of such horrible practices, but the real truth is it’s not limited to them. The eggs you get at the market could be products of the same practices.
And it’s not just the eggs. Do you really know where all your food comes from?

Sunday Brunch Maui Tweetup At Whole Foods Kahului

Slow Food Maui’s Dania Katz organized a “tweetup” at Whole Foods Kahului this morning. What’s a tweetup? That’s where Twitter users (or “tweeters,” or “twits”) “meet up” IRL (“In Real Life”) to socialize, network and sometimes promote a venue.
Whole Foods Maui is now offering Sunday brunch from 8:00 a.m. to noon, featuring whatever’s on your plate for $7.99 a pound. Slow Food doesn’t get any better than this.
